Post-earthquake emergency drill by the Organisation of Turkic States

The Organisation of Turkic States (CSTO) conducted a joint exercise for accidents and emergencies at the Alat Port near Baku.
The exercise, directed by Kemaleddin Haydarov, Minister of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan, was watched by Ambassador Kubanicbek Ömüraliyev, Secretary General of the CIS, Ali Yerlikaya, Minister of Interior, Sırım Şariphanov, Minister of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan, Boobek Ajikeev, Minister of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan, Abdulla Kuldaşev, Minister of Emergency Situations of Uzbekistan and Dursun Oğuz, Minister of Interior of TRNC.
The exercise, named "Baku 2023", started with the rescue of the wounded as a result of the representative explosion that occurred in the harbour after the earthquake. The teams intervened from the air and land and evacuated the wounded in a short time. The relevant teams also intervened in the representative chemical explosion on the railway tracks in the area.
AFAD team participating in the exercise from Turkey entered the area with 2 vehicles and intervened in radioactive leakage. While the Azerbaijani helicopter dropped water on the tracks, the Turkish police helicopter took the disaster victim to the helicopter with a rope.
In the continuation of the exercise, in which an amphibious aircraft belonging to Azerbaijan was also used, the teams carried out a rescue operation on the ship where a representative explosion occurred. People on the ship were evacuated from land and air. Turkish Gendarmerie Aviation Steel Wings helicopter also took part in this part of the exercise and rescued the wounded.
After the exercise, 2 helicopters belonging to Turkey, 5 helicopters belonging to Azerbaijan and an aeroplane made an overflight and greeted the protocol.
AFAD participated in the exercise, in which AFAD President Okay Memiş was also present, with 42 personnel and 3 vehicles.
In total, 8 helicopters, 1 aircraft, 245 vehicles, 6 trained dogs and 1180 personnel took part in the exercise.
