Parliament fails to vote on draft law requested by IMF from Lebanon

The Lebanese Parliament could not vote on the "draft law on capital control" presented by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as a precondition for a $3 billion loan because not enough deputies attended the General Assembly. While the General Assembly convened for the draft law, citizens whose deposit accounts have been frozen by the state since 2019 held a demonstration in front of the Parliament. Demonstrators carrying banners chanted anti-government slogans.
