“Ghost village” Lubbey, where only 8 people live in Izmir, has been revived with the Efeler route
The "Way of Efeler" hiking route, which starts from Nif Mountain in Bornova district of Izmir, travels around Bozdağ Quarter in Ödemiş district and ends at the House of Virgin Mary in Selçuk district, increased the visitors of Lübbey Quarter, also known as the "ghost village", where 8 people live.
Lübbey Neighbourhood, which is located 13 kilometres away from Ödemiş district of İzmir and whose population decreased to 8 as a result of the migration of its people for various reasons, attracts attention with its nature and historical buildings.
Lübbey, which is one of the favourite visiting points for hikers and photography enthusiasts, promises a future in terms of tourism.
With the official opening of the Efeler Yolu cultural route on 15 July, which was created by marking and mapping the walking paths connecting 28 villages and plateaus in the mountains surrounding Izmir, where traces of the Efe/Zeybek culture are found, Lübbey Neighbourhood, which is located on the 8th stage of this route, also gained mobility.
Lübbey, which hosts many guests from Izmir, Manisa and Aydın, has also been visited by guests from countries such as Russia, Germany, England and Israel in the last 1 month.
While the boutique hotel opened in the neighbourhood started to host its guests with accommodation, especially on weekends, "ghost streets" come alive with daily tourists.
